Hi. My Name Is Joseph Daniel I am 36 years old. I’m a young film-maker.
I’ll be real with you, I didn’t think I’d end up here, writing this, asking strangers for help. But I don’t know what else to do at this point.
I’ve been working on this film for the past year. It’s a drama based on a lot of real-life pain of mine and people close to me. It’s about family, mental health, loss, and trying to hold on when everything feels like it’s falling apart. I wrote it during one of the hardest times of my life, and honestly, this project has kept me going. It gave me something to hold on to.
But now I’m stuck. The film is mostly shot. We did what we could with very little, just friends, borrowed equipment, sleepless nights, and our own money. But I’ve hit a wall. I don’t have the funds to finish it. Editing, sound, coloring and every other thing that actually makes it a movie and not just footage on a drive it costs money I just don’t have.
I’ve emptied my savings. I’ve skipped meals to pay for gear. I’ve slept on floors. I’ve asked for favors until I ran out of people to ask. I’ve tried everything I can. I’ve even borrowed from some people which I’ve not been able to pay back yet. Now I’m here, just being honest and asking: can you help?
Even a few dollars will make a difference. I’m not trying to go viral or raise some huge budget. I’m just trying to finish this story that means the world to me. It’s not perfect, but it’s real. It’s honest. It’s a piece of me.
